A valuable membership benefit that saves you money!
Our 2018 electric buying group will provide an opportunity for savings for chicken growers, allied business members of DPI, and large residential electric buyers served by Delmarva Power (with a minimum average monthly electric bill of $500 over 12 months). The current electric buying group, formed in 2015 and set to end in November 2018, is the largest electric aggregation buying group on the Delmarva peninsula, with nearly 600 DPI-member participating accounts.
Hundreds of DPI members have saved over $2 million through previous DPI electric buying groups. Members in the current, expiring electric buying group saved an average of $1,700 a year in utility costs.
To be a part of the new electric buying group, which will take effect in November 2018, you must enroll by August 31, 2018. We are expecting to execute a multi-year electricity supply contract at a flat, fixed price that will cover the period of November 2018 through November 2021. The length of the contract will depend upon energy market prices this autumn, but we are hoping to lock in a new rate below the current, expiring contract rate as well as below Delmarva Power's default tariff supply rates.
To qualify for the electric buying group, you must be a 2018 DPI member with a minimum dues payment of $150. Additionally, you must agree to be a DPI member with a minimum annual dues payment of $150 for each year of the electric buying group.
"By belonging to DPI's electric buying groups for more than 10 years, I've saved thousands of dollars on my Delmarva Power bills. The savings are crystal-clear when I look at my statements, and that's why I'm a lock to join the next buying group. Enjoying those savings is a significant reason for my continued membership in DPI."
