2014 DPI College Scholarship Program

DPI has announced the opening of its 2014 Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. College Scholarship Program. Applications are being accepted for undergraduate and graduate scholarships that will be awarded in the spring.

Undergraduate Scholarship
One or more undergraduate scholarships in the amount of $1,500-$4,000 will be awarded to a resident of the Delmarva Peninsula who is an undergraduate student at any accredited, degree-granting institution, with an academic major in a subject relevant to Delmarva’s poultry industry and who is pursuing a career path leading to employment in some segment of Delmarva’s poultry industry. The program also is open to high school seniors on the Delmarva Peninsula who have been accepted at any accredited, degree-granting institution and who are pursuing a career path leading to employment in some segment of Delmarva’s poultry industry. Previous recipients, if still eligible, may reapply

Emerson Morgan Graduate Scholarship
One or more graduate scholarships in the amount of $1,500-$4,000 will be awarded to a Delmarva resident who is a graduate student engaged in research that directly benefits Delmarva’s poultry industry. Previous recipients, if still eligible, may reapply.

Eligibility
The applicant must be a student in good standing at an accredited institution within the United States or in the case of graduating high school seniors, accepted to an accredited institution within the United States. An official transcript must accompany application and in the case of high school seniors, a copy of their college acceptance must also be included. An advisor or faculty reference will be contacted. It is the student’s responsibility to be sure the reference has the student’s permission to release information.

Selection
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee of representatives from Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc.(DPI). Preference will be given to applicants planning a career in any segment (live production, processing, sales, transportation, office management, accounting, etc.) of Delmarva’s poultry industry. Preference may be given to students from families that either are members of DPI or own a business that is a member of DPI. Note: Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

Application Process
Application forms and additional scholarship information are available from Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI). Contact the DPI office at 302-856-9037 or 800-878-2449, by e-mail at dpi@dpichicken.com, or go to www.dpichicken.org and click on scholarship. Applications must be RECEIVED at the address below by April 1, 2014.  Late applications, incomplete applications, and handwritten applications will not be considered.  Applicants may wish to contact DPI at the above number or e-mail address to be sure application was received prior to deadline.

Payment
It is preferred that payment be sent to the financial aid office at the recipient’s school. If this is not possible, other payment arrangements will be made.
